Woodland, shallow water, a carried bag and a racket cameo: what Unitree’s February 2026 As2 reel establishes, and what needs a longer test.
Configuration · As2 quadruped. The reel includes different accessories, including a carried bag and an arm with a racket. Exact variant, payload mass in each scene and control mode are not disclosed.

Give the robot some credit
Uneven ground changes the contact geometry beneath a legged robot. The woodland and water scenes show the body moving while the feet deal with different surfaces. That is more informative about outdoor mobility than a studio pose. [S2]
Carrying equipment changes the system the controller has to move. The red bag is therefore relevant even without a verified mass. The next question is how much performance remains over an entire route. [S2]
The arm illustrates the platform as a base for additional hardware. Coordinating an attached mechanism with a moving base is an interesting integration problem; a racket pose alone is not a tennis benchmark. [S2]

None of this makes the demo fake. It tells us how far the demo is from deployment.

Next test
- Can it complete a declared outdoor route with a weighed payload, showing the full run and battery use?
- Can it repeat the route after rain while logging slips, stops and human assistance?
- Can it negotiate a changed route or unexpected obstruction without an off-camera reset?
Real-world bar
Repeat useful loaded routes within a stated operating envelope, with manageable intervention and recovery requirements. Document the complete task, not just its most photogenic few seconds.

Outdoor mobility is relevant to deployment, but this reel does not establish unfamiliar-route autonomy, repeated reliability or operating cost. It supports interest in a capable base without changing the existing assessment. The racket can keep its cameo.

WORTH WATCHING
The practical signal is outdoor movement with equipment. The strongest next evidence would be a complete, repeated loaded route with interventions counted. A short reel is a useful introduction, not an operating record.

The February launch description gives a maximum torque of 90 N·m, while the current product page includes approximately 95 N·m and configuration-dependent specifications. PHASE does not silently substitute current specifications for the filmed robot’s configuration. Neither number is independently measured by this article. [S1] [S3]
The outdoor sequences show movement and water exposure; they do not reproduce an ingress-protection test or verify the advertised loaded range. The prototype of a useful test is simple: one declared route, one weighed load, the whole run and an intervention log.
